I am a faculty member at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and teach housing policy and strategic planning in the graduate program in urban planning. I also head the The Urban Clinic there, where we develop tools for more equitable cities, especially in community development, urban regeneration, and, of course, placemaking. We learn alongside local and international practitioners, 'co-producing knowledge' for local implementation. Fabulous placemaking sessions with PPS have sparked great projects here.

On placemaking, I'd especially like to hear and talk about placemaking in self-built areas, places with very little formal public space, placemaking as part of community based tourism, and placemaking in areas where religion and/or ideology don't encourage play or even social mixing We're also working on urban planning for child-friendly neighborhoods with the Urban 95 Bernard Van Leer Foundation, including developing graduate student courses, and it would be great to talk about that!
