I am Emeritus Professor of City Leadership at the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK and Director of Urban Answers, a company I founded in 2007 to provide assistance to city leaders on an international basis. Just now I am working quite closely with Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, in an effort to develop a more open and a more inclusive way of governing our city. We call it the Bristol City Office approach and the central purpose is to drive down inequality in the city. The City Office will be one of the urban innovations to feature in the international panel I have organised on 'Urban Innovation and Governance Transformation' to take place at 10.50am on Thursday 5 April. The panel will compare and contrast urban innovations in many different countries, and I am hoping that the conversation can generate ideas that can feed into the preparations for the Global Parliament of Mayors International Summit to be held in Bristol on 21-23 October 2018.
